Transportation

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

Idk about anyone else but not being able to drive because of epilepsy does cause difficulty in my life plus bring my confidence a little lower than it should.
For others who might have this issue let me know how you handle it. Thanks I hope you're having a great Saturday!πŸ˜€

I go through this at work because I work slower than others, but remain positive!

Hi pstegman, I admit to having two accidents courtesy of seizures, both close to home. On three occasions the vehicle in, was hit by someone else. In the first, permanent damage to my left arm occurred. The second of those is how a skull and brain damage created my seizures. Admittedly, without auras, my license would be surrendered. Some times, I am forced to not go, pullover and wait, or let the individual with me take the wheel. With seizures, results were being in the neighbor's yard and hitting another neighbor's tree, after crossing their field. Both times, a change in medication dosage level had taken place. You have taken the right step in not threatening harm to your children or yourself. It is frustrating to not be able to take a son two to eight miles for club and school events, but my retired mother and a good friend, who's son was in the same class, provided transportation. The spirit of life is of great value. May God be with you.

I myself, since driving a car was out of the question. I went with riding a recumbent bicycle instead. For one you're not having to fill a gas tank.(Except for your stomach) You're not limited to just the city streets, you can also use the local trails if you really want to. And, you can actually enjoy being with friends and family instead of being all compacted in together.
