Forgetting You Have Epilepsy

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Am I the only one that sometimes forgets that I have epilepsy? Some days I don't have a single seizure or symptom.

No. You're not alone. For years I took my meds automatically and without conscious acknowledgment of what they were for. For clarity's sake: I didn't "forget" for years at a time, but I didn't think "epilepsy" for perhaps a couple of days. I always wonder, though, if it was a trick of denial or, simply, my moving around in life without thinking. Like you, I can go for quite some time without a seizure or symptom.

I don't think about it either. I am living my life without it ruling me, imo!! :-) Problem is sometimes I ignore the warning auras too. Perhaps in denial......
