Strange Symtoms - Anyone Else Had A Similar Experience?

In 2000 I had a grand mal seizure, ended up in hospital, and after tests was diagnosed with a venous angioma, causing the same effect as epilepsy. I have lived with this now for 17 years, and have changed meds a few times. Have been on tegretol for about 3 years. For many years mainly experienced dizziness, headaches and tiredness. A couple of years ago started having periods where I couldn't see out of one eye for a few minutes and felt weird with it. This has now increased, and I… read more

I take Tegretol And at one time I started seeing double not crossed where things are side by side but the things I saw were one above another. I would sweet and have chill bumps on my arms. My home Dr. said I was having panic attacks. But when I went to my Eptoligest he took a blood level of my meds. and said that I was toxic on my Tegretol. So he lowered it and in a few days, everything was back to normal. You may want to have your med. levels checked.

David, Tegretol was an absolute nightmare for me as a medication. Shortly after I started taking it I had a severe seizure in the check-out line of the supermarket. I didn't recognize my father and he could normally handle any type of seizure that arose. We had the good fortune of Head Nurse from the Emergency Room of the hospital where he worked nearby. She came over and asked my father if he would mind if she took over-my father gladly accepted her offer. Afterwards I was sick for a week recovering from that seizure and my doctor took me off of Tegretol. Unfortunately one of my supervisors fired me from the federal system while I was off.

Some of your symptoms are exactly like mine are/were. 85% of my seizures are preceded by confusion, in varying degrees; as the confusion increases, I get closer to a tonic-clonic event. 70% of my seizures are preceded by a metabolism shift; usually, I become extremely hot/sweaty, but occasionally I become really cold (always, combined with degrees of confusion).
I don't think this is Tegretol-related, though, as I took that drug for years before switching to another regimen and still experiencing the metabolic crash.
Good luck! In fact, USE the feeling as a sign that you need to prepare for a seizure. It took me years before I made the connection.

I have the eye sight issue and the hot flashes during seizures too. run your hand under vold water and take your top layer of clothes off if you can it helps some.

I have been waking up sweating, and I also have seizures where I can be sleeping one way and wake up sleeping the opposite way.
