Continuous Seizures

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I've read through many of the questions and answers here but I haven't seen any that have experienced any bouts of status epilepticus. I have now had 3 episodes of continuous seizures. The first two were triggered by having to put my dog down. The first one was 5 days of continuous seizures. I was extremely paranoid and delusional. I would do some very strange things. I called my sister, who lived 200 miles from me, and scream to her "the nurses are trying to kill me". I kept calling my niece… read more

I too have experienced several Status Epileptis I am told. As a result of head injuries I now have short term memory loss also which is about 1 1/2 days of memory then I either remember in detail or not at all. Sorry to hear that you lost your best friend, they have dogs that are trained to sense seizures have you checked into getting one?

I've Status Epilepticus a few times now. Back in 2009 I seizure grandma l seizures for 13 hours then on and off for 4 days straight. As a result I learned my heart stopped 2 times and the doctors needed to implant a pacemaker in me in case it happens again. Then recently I had over 70 smaller seizures in a row over 6 hours. the ER wouldn't even see me, because I could point up or down. the triage nurse said I wasn't having an epileptic seizure. after 5 hours of this I went home and took 2 more Ativan, which brought me up to 4.5 mg. It was a local hospital and i'll never go back there again.

I have had statius seizures when I was young and older now I take Ativan and it helps me. It is a scary thing for family and us to go through. I sometimes never think I going to come out of the seizure. It wipes me out.

Wow. I'm sorry. I ended up being taken to a hospital that I've never been before. They thought I just had the one seizure at home and have me a diagnosis of dementia. I was so freaked out and furious over that. Then they have me resperidal. This is a medicine that's suppose to make you calm. But I have an adverse rxn to it and it makes me extremely angry and somewhat violent. I was ripping my IT's out. Throwing my meds at the nurses. Cursing at them. When I finally came out of it and saw that they were and had been giving me that medicine I refused it and got angry. Come to find out it was on my allergy list but they were going from paper to computer and as per them literally "we kinda sort of left it off of your list". That was why I was so violent, why I had to be so many extra times. But yeah....I got a diagnosis of f**king dementia. That is unbelievable!!!!!
