A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

At the beginning of the year I started seeing a specialist that wants to find a "solution" to my seizures. After too many tests to count, he said that I have Temporal Lobe Epilepsy and that brain surgery would help with the seizures. Not going to lie, it got my hopes up and I couldn't wait for this to happen. That was in January. It is now December and I'm ready to give up hope! Any suggestions??

Thank you all. This has helped me to keep my composure because so much is going on with myself and my family and inhave just been wanting my Neurologist to rush this ahead so i can focus on everything else. But I will definitely continue to research and ask questions about the VNS because it was brought to my attention several times. Thanks!!

I had brain surgery done on my Lynne left temporal lobe. I still have seizures, but they aren’t as severe like they were before the surgery. There were some tests I had to do, before my surgery appointment.
Overall, my surgery went great.

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member I also went through a lot of testing since I started the tremors. They thought it would get better once I was in my late teens but it didn't. I ended up deciding myself that surgery was best with how they told me it would work. I went for day long writing tests & also 24 hour awake before an EEG so I would sleep through it but was hard due to them making you open our eyes every couple minutes. Once I was going for surgery they did a test which told me where everything was on my brain & then did a 6 hour surgery. I hope they can help you as well

You shouldn't give up hope surgery isnt for everyone and there are other things out there to help seiz like the vns talk to your doctor or do research and bring it to your doctors attention.

Like @A MyEpilepsyTeam Member said, don't give up. It's a hell of a waiting game (and depending on your personality, 'hell' is the operative word) but they will run every test they can think of to make sure their plans are a fit for you. I spent forever waiting just for explorative surgery.
