Has Anyone Ever Not Got A Job And Felt Like The Reason Is Because You Have Epilepsy?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I applied for a job a few weeks ago and I've got lots of experience in this particular area but there were people who applied with no experience and who applied later than I did and received the job. The only thing they have that I don't, is the fact they're not epileptic. Anyone else ever been on the receiving end of something like this?

My husband has had this happen several times and he has also lost jobs for absurd reasons that were clearly just excuses because they disnt want tobdeal with his seizures an wanted to avoid a lawsuit for discrimination. I wish I new how to avoid this but honestly we are just learning about how to deal with these things ourselves. I can only say your not alone an hope that if nothing else it gives you some peaceof mind that your not the only one being treated unfairly when it comes to employment opportunities. Social services wont even help him or us because they consider him physically capable of working they dont even consider the real dangers of having seizures an working certain jobs. Or the fact that jobs just wont hire due to having epilepsy an find reasons tolet employees go once they find out because they dont want the liability.

Yes that happened to me in my younger life. My boss did not know that i had seizures. And when i did get one they let me go the following day because they consider you as a liability.

I didn't tell anyone until after I had the job and knew they couldn't fire me because of it!
