How Many Others Have Experienced Myoclonic Seizures Right After Waking Up

If so how long does it last for you? And what helps? And what triggers it to get worse? Does it get worse? How long before it has stopped.?

I get them alot lately. I had them perfectly controlled by drugs for 8 years and then in april they all came rushing back and i dont know why.
Mine last about 30 seconds to a minute. The onlything that helps is to lay there and let it pass. It will get worse if i stay up late or have alcoholor some times dont eat enough. Hope this helps you.

Yes even a small nap it can happen. My new neurologist upped my topirimamate pills to 300 mg and added novo-clobazam 10mg at night. Been on this dose for a week. So far no seizures. 🤞Hope this helps

Upon researching the lightbulbs, it was explained that when the energy saving one comes on, the light has to move from the base to the top, and so your eye is moving trying to watch it as it is moving, but the incandescent just lights up, all at once.

I don't think hunger plays any part into it, at least for me, but I will say this, my med.... Depakote, makes me so very hungry all the time. Also, this does not happen every night or after every nap. I think for me it's more due to the day & sleep. For example, if I have a really rotten day and go to bed rehashing that on my mind, then yes, it's possible. Sleep for me is a joke. I toss and turn and try to read, listen to music, whatever, but I still will not sleep. When I do finally fall asleep there's always a good chance of expecting one during the day. Now, I get 4 different kinds of seizures. (1) Grand-Mal or Tonic Clonic. (2) Myoclonic, (3) Partial, or pseudo, or (4) Nocturnal. I cannot 'calm down' from Grand-Mal or Myoclonic. Once they start, I just have to 'prep myself.' Partials are hard, but I try to settle down and sometimes I win, and nocturnal's are just plain weird. Here's another thing that I do to help myself: (1) check your light bulbs. Those 'piggy tail' energy efficient ones triggers seizures to me. I have to use the incandescent. (2) For me, ceiling fans can be killer. The sun coming through that makes a 'strobe light' sensation. (3) Cut back on computer time. If I'm on for to long, it can happen. Also, if your like me and read the news on your I phone, that'll get you also. Keep some meds by your bed, and I usually keep a medical chart as well in the event EMS comes. I hope that I helped, if you want, Facebook me.

I talked to my Neurologist about the samething. I couldn't put my finger around it that I could wake up in the middle of the night having a seizure! Why? Well apparently we can. And as for duration? They all differ, but overall, mine can last upwards to 20 minutes. What helps me? Keep cool, eyes closed, and if possible, take an extra med.
