Absence Seizures And Injury
I have walked in streets and fallen down stair cases and injured my head when I was alone but I have never heard of perople being killed from having seizures and going in front of a car or driving through a red light or anything else. Does this happen that often?
Each of us has our own way, @A MyEpilepsyTeam Member. If it helps you, continue to do it. I tried hanging notes and carrying a notebook, but now use the calendar. Certainly isn't silly, if it works.
I have rear ended someone while driving on the highway and had no clue and continued on me way home from work twice from a complex partial seizure. My commute is normally just over 35 minutes either way. (Note: thankfully no one was hurt either time and i don't drive anymore)
Also, i have the VNS device. It's annoying when it messes with my voice really bad or gets in my way (i'm on my 2nd device with odd placement). I've never heard of the device making anyone sick, however, i would recommend documenting your own experiences because it could be liable with your epilepsy in general among with your meds and even the device for you. Everyone is different. I hope all the best for you.
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member, Don't know about runnning a red light coutesy of an absence, but definitely ran across my neighbor's field and into a tree. According to police officer, drove like I was DUI and backed into a ditch as deep as the length of the pickup. Following those events, also lost my right to drive.
Yes. I have ran red lights and drive in to a tree knocking me unconscious.
I have a VNS and have never gotten sick from having it or using it, Medication yes. At times it works and you dont know that it is.
