Success With CBD Oil And Been Able To Stop Meds?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have read that CBD oils interact with enzymes in your liver that will cause some AEDs to stay in your body longer. This is probably not a good thing over time. So, I was wondering if anyone was able to get CBD oil to work well enough to maybe slowly wean themselves off of their AED meds???

Thanks for your answers and help..

Hi i was on vimpat and weaned off and onto cbd june of 2018 Until super recently (last 3 weeks) i have been doing well i did have any more auras than i did while taking vimpat. Now i stopped taking hormonal birth control (had tubal occlusion done)and im Having problems again. Im taking half a dose more cbd than before but im still concerned that im going to have a grandmal so im going to speak with the neuro and see what they think...feb 11th. CBD changed my life and if you want to chat about it i would love to. I love it so much i grow it. Be careful where you source your CBD from, know your farmer, know your manufactuer, only get quality CBD, organic, high quality, it makes a difference.

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member rant coming... i am a researcher and kinda a health nut. every med had side effects and cbd is no different. the good thing is cbd has about 3 side effects (tiredness, eating, and weight loss). the 2 other meds i take now has the following. keppra ... kepra rage (mood swings), anxiety, chills, cough or hoarseness, crying, diarrhea, dry mouth, euphoria, fever, general feeling of discomfort or illness, headache, hyperventilation, irregular heartbeats, irritability, joint pain, loss of appetite, and lower back or side pain. pheonarbital side effects are dizziness, drowsiness, problems with memory or concentration, excitation, irritability, aggression, confusion, loss of balance or coordination, and headaches.
the sad part about me is i need the meds to function. i tried (drs approval) to ween my meds (before the cbd) with no success. now they i have no seizures (with cbd oil). i am afraid of weening the meds will trigger it again.
cbd is from the marijuana plant (weed) and it is used forever ago, until the 1930s. long story short... some guy lost it drug funding so they made up the story about weed and mexicans (usa hated mexicans back then). soon after it was illegal to own weed.
the funny part is the dea (drug enforcement administration) classified weed as a class a1 (didnt do anything and harmful to humans) until just recently (i think 2014-2017). a couple of drs still think weed dosent work.

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member I agree that there are many copycat CBDs out there. I researched thoroughly (and used advice from the CBD Users group on Facebook) to make sure I got a reputable CBD supplier. i.e.Pure CBD (CO2 extraction)
with 3rd party testing,
and a good local hemp source with good cultivation practices, etc..

Regarding the liver, I think all of our AEDs are destroying us in some way. It would help if the darn things worked better.
So many of us are taking CBD to stop having seizures, and almost everyone of us is saying CBD is changing their life.

For me, I went over a month without having a seizure for the first time in years. The only thing that stopped it and caused me to have a seizure was a sleepless night of coughing from bronchitis.

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member there is a Facebook group called CBD Oil Users and Education Group where you can ask questions about whether it will help migraines, or anything... You could get some of the answers you want there.
