What’s Everyones Experiences Like Being Pregnant With Epilepsy?

For the ladies... it’s hit me that I’m getting to the point where I should be family planning. I called my epilepsy nurse to discuss the risks along with my medication and it’s scared me to death. But if I don’t do it soon I don’t think it will ever happen 😢

I live here in the US and I was on two different medications while I was pregnant I was on both lamotrigine and oscarbazepine and there were possible risks but they said there are the lowest risk medications that I was on and is a good thing but I still had high risk pregnancy the entire time and it wasn't because of my medication my main issue plus I was having seizures like crazy I was the whole time I was pregnant I had 85 seizures possibly more that I don't know of and I had 40 to 50 dizzy spells while I was pregnant but they did tell me that there were a bunch of risks but my son was born with no physical disorder or whatsoever he was hitting all of his milestones as a baby all the way up until he said his first word and then right when he was around two or three years old he stopped talking and that's when we found out he had autism but we don't think it was from my medication because he was hitting all of his milestones as a baby but he's 12 years old now no physical disorder or nothing like that mainly his physical disorder more has to do with the autism and ADHD but my pregnancy was a little crazy for me because when you have a seizure you always have to worry about falling and at the beginning of mine I fell down a flight of steps while I was pregnant with my son but the good thing is nothing happened to him nothing happened to me we were both totally fine they said where it was so early and the pregnancy there was enough padding that protected him

I’m on 4 meds and I had one epilepsy nurse tell me it wouldn’t be possible to have kids because of all the birth defects that the baby could have and I was on 4 meds then 6 months later another epilepsy nurse said it would be possible if I got down to one med I knew that wouldn’t be happening anytime soon so I made the difficult decision I wouldn’t have kids it was heartbreaking it took me a long time to accept x x
