I had 5. At the time I was not under doctors care because my husband (at the time) said he couldn't afford it. I came through just fine. In fact I had less seizures while pregnant and breast feeding. But afterwards...

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member , I’ve never been pregnant & don’t care to & am now going through menopause, but years ago when my Pediatric Neurologist started me on Depakote he told me to let him know if I ever wanted to get pregnant because the Depakote could cause birth defects I think he said. So you would want to talk to your Neurologist ahead of time & let them know so they can make sure you’re on some safe medication during the pregnancy. Others on here have had kids. Congratulations on your engagement & I wish the best. Just keep in touch with your doctor & they likely should be able to help you with that journey. Good luck & congratulations! πŸ€—πŸ’œπŸŽ‰πŸ™πŸ€— Your friend in Texas, Becky

Now epilepsy meds are some of safest of all for pregnancy. Even if had a seizure no harm to baby either. Ease mind best by asking Dr for yourself before. Then get ready for your new little bundle of joy 😍

Managing a pregnancy with epilepsy can bring added challenges, but many women have healthy pregnancies and babies. It's important to plan ahead with your doctor to make medication adjustments and take precautions. Having a strong support system, like connecting with others who have been through similar experiences on MyEpilepsyTeam, can also help provide encouragement and advice. Some key things to discuss with your doctor include: reviewing your medications and making any needed changes beforehand, taking folic acid supplements to support fetal health, identifying any additional risks related to your specific case, and closely monitoring your health throughout pregnancy. With the right care and precautions, many women find the rewards outweigh the challenges.
