NASAL SPRAYS TO STOP SEIZURES
I purchsed Midozolam, which is a prescribed nasal spray to stop seizures, however, it can only be used for seizures greater than 3 minutes. My son's seizures usually last 1 or 2 minutes, at the most. I heard about a Cannabis Nasal Spray that stops the seizure in seconds. However, not sure if they sell it in Florida. Has any one heard of this product and do you know whether it is available in Florida? Thank you for all the support I get from this forum and all the help. Hugs and kisses to⦠read more
Seizure stopping (I forget the correct term for them) nasal sprays tend to work quite well, just be sure to put them in his nose at the right angle. The only cannabis products in Florida at the moment require a prescription and it is illegal to give them to a child. I was actually on the first prescription cannabis medication in Florida right when it came out in January 2019 called Epidiolex. It's basically pure CBD gel with nasty raspberry flavoring. It made me extremely paranoid, and I already had bad paranoia before that. I legit thought that people were going to come to house to kill me. BUT everyone is different and drugs affect people differently so a person taking that drug could never even experience that side effect.
Your son's seizures lasting 2 minutes is not uncommon at all. You are being a good mother by having that spray handy in case they do last longer than 3 minutes. There are also mouth dissolving tablets that you put in his cheek, and um, suppositories. The best thing to do is talk with your neurologist about this. You should always talk to them before using a different remedy. There are quite a few neuros who are open to cannabis derived treatments, but be aware that your son might not respond well to them or at all. Every epileptic is different. Always check with your doctor first.
In the state of Florida CBD products are very unregulated, so when you purchase them they may not contain any CBD at all and you'll basically be buying snake oil for a very high price. Always check with your neurologist first.
Thank you so much for your response. It is very helpful.
