I Feel Sudden Electric-shock Like Sensations, Intolerable Pain, Buzzing, Moving Across Shoulders, Neck & Down Spine??

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Cleveland, OH

Is it part of my parietal lobe seizures? Maybe focal aware? I have focal unaware mostly (complex partials), also simple focal aware (auras) of rt temporal parietal lobes, and sometimes bilateral to left side temporal parietal lobes also. Anyone ever experience this type of sensation or is it something else??

I have not experienced any sensations that powerful in terms of pain, thus I will provide with resources to find out where to find answers. Hopefully, other friends on here who have experienced what you have can give you feedback from their personal experience to use with the professional resources below.

Here are 2 great sources to find out everything from the top professionals in the United States and reference to the equivalent institutions from around the world.

US National Library of Medicine (2 places for information from them and branches off from them that focus on the brain and other parts of the body are also available on this huge site, but start with these 2 and the one from the Epilepsy Foundation that follows below)

TY Margery! How long do yours usually last? Also how do you handle the pain part? It’s maybe not exactly pain in the usual sense but weird intolerable sensation, combos of shocks, tingling, temperature change in the area, etc but feels overwhelming & panicked feelings also accompany it… sometimes I flap my hands, rock back&forth uncontrollably, repeat “my back hurts” (but it’s not actually my back so weird that I say it) & will come & go often in cycles. Especially if I get hot or hear low frequency sounds (subwoofers, sudden loud noises, amplified music). I hate these…

Here are all of the facts from the Experts at the Epilepsy Foundation and the US National Library of Medicine about seizures of all kinds but especially epileptic seizures

If you read this and cannot find the seizure details that matches what you are experiencing, then please let me know. I will go search for the information from the experts (not Dr. Margery) to provide for you to tell your neurologist about to get proper treatment.

And remember, that at any time you can call the Epilepsy Foundation and request an advocate to help to ensure that you get the proper diagnosis and treatment. https://www.epilepsy.com/connect/247-helpline
