Therapy
Has anyone gone to "therapy" for help dealing with stress and anxiety that really got worse since the few siezures. I had some before that happened but it's worse for sure. I have gone to therapy in the past and feel it did nothing to help. But I don't know what they are really suppose to do to help?
I go to this place that has my psychiatrist, my counselor, and my practioner all in one. But the practioner isn’t trained in epilepsy treatment like my neurologist, and she’s also kinda like a counselor, just easy to talk to her. It’s the same for my counselor, it’s normal counceling, not specifically for epilepsy but still helpful with it because it’s very relevant to my depression and anxiety. A counselor for epilepsy would likely be in the hospital, and your neurologist would have to refer you because it’d be a neuropsych councelor, if thats the name. I just went do a neuropsych test yesterday 🤣 so it was the first name to come to mind, im going finish thursday because i almost started falling asleep.🤣🤣 But yeah ask you’re neurologist about a neuropsych councelor, i had one for a while
I feel like it's been helpful somewhat for me I still have anxiety and depression but it's better than it used to be and possibly helped with my seizures I haven't had one in a couple months since I started
I find it helpful just for managing my anxiety to talk to someone who knows about how to manage it more effectively. But it’s not a one-size fits-all kind of thing. You have to find a good one for it to work for you. So I guess that’s a qualified yes, I personally find it very helpful.
What kind of therapy are you speaking of?
Counseling/ Psychological issues Or just something you can do yourself?
If it’s Counseling, basically you Talk out your issues and they listen. (i.e. Work with coping skills).
A Psychiatrist listens but prescribes medicine to help with Anxiety, Depression and many other issues that are overwhelming.
I hope this helps a little.
there ia a lota alternative therapys out there. deep breathing, meditation, yoga, acupuncture, adjustment therapy, hippy/voodoo chants and trinkets, ect. the 1 major problem with meds/treatments/diets is... you have to believe that it is working. it is like the placebo effect, if you know it is a placebo (fake idem), it will not work. but if it is a miracle meds, it will work wonders.
hobbies count as stress relievers. anything that reduced the stress.
every morning and night i meditate/deep breath and listen to music. if the stress is too high, i draw or play relaxing games. if i am doing something and stress is to high, i close my eyes and deep breath.
but that is what works for me... resoults my vary.
