Complementary Therapies
Has anyone tried and complementary therapies such as massage, aromatherapy, acupuncture alongside their AED's to help with the side effects of their medications or just to help lower their stress levels to try and control their seizures? I've had acupuncture and absolutely hated it so I'm wondering if its worth trying anything else.
I struggle with exercise. Now I just try to do a small walk everyday and I hope to gradually increase it.
Don't feel alone BryanMartin I am the same way I can't run or walk to much because it sends me into seizures.
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member We are all so different - all humans and all humans with epilepsy. Wouldn't it be nice if there was a one size fits all for this? Lyme disease - doxycycline. Epilepsy - who knows? Let's try this medication, and this other one, and then the combination of these and maybe another; and maybe throw in some cannabis or other herbal remedy, maybe a little acupuncture.... It's probably the most "who knows" disease that there is!
I tend to feel better when I run - even more than when I go for a walk that's a lot longer than my usual run. I've been meditating more and I think that helps. Swimming in a pool is a great meditation and exercise for me. It's helpful for stress and depression and I can only think that it's probably helpful to keep seizures down.
i was getting any alternative things. biofeedback, acupuncture, massages, many diets, vitamins, and much more. biofeedback helps but my go to is the keto diet or mad diet, vitamins, and cbd oil. i still take meds but that is a small amount.
