Tests

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Poteet, TX

I haven't had any new tests like a EEG, CT scan or MRI in 6 years. I am scheduled to have the VNS surgery done on September 1st. Would it be a good idea to have new tests done before the surgery?

Every big surgery type treatments , like the brain surgery, VNS , RNS and DBS we should always be tested before doing those. My Epileptologist told me that that’s alway the first step.

I’m going to be getting the DBS treatment. Just waiting for the scheduled appt.
Before that , I had to do a inpatient EEG ( for 7 days ) , MRI, Neuro Psych Test , and a visit with the psychologist.

I have also had the VNS treatment and had to do tests before it too.
