Anyone That Had A Craniotomy....
How did they shave your head. I know they will shave it somehow, so i want to have a hairstyle planned for when im able to get my hair cut/shaved but im un aware of how they typically shave for the procedure. Im having a temporal craniotomy for my seizures.
I had right temporal lobe surgery. They just moved the hair back and shaved the section where they needed to work. The hair aound it mostly covered it. It wasnt too bad. When it started to grow out it stuck out weirdly for a while until it was long enough to lay down but its not as bad as you think it will be.
Ask your surgeon. They will know the most info. They might need to shave at least half of head. I had a similar surgery. So to make sure I didn't come out with little bald spots everywhere, I just shaved my whole head... before my surgery.
Hair grows back! It was a great experience and you get to see how you look with your hair at every length as it grows back!
It grew back very quickly for me. If I had to do it again I'd do it the same way. I think it also made recovery easier, because my hair was never in the way!
Your scalp WILL hurt! So brushing and washing your hair isn't a main priority... healing properly from brain surgery(any surgery), takes time and patience!
Make sure you take the time to heal. Good luck.
Take care.π
Before I had my brain surgery I wanted my hair to grow evenly. So I shaved my whole head.
Besides what I did, I was told, that they would shave a portion of the head, that they would be working on.
I guess I am not any help even if I am a woman because I'd never get my hair shaved off and I went through two different surgeries one a laser surgery and the other one a stereo eeg that they shaved my head in certain stops
As a man, I'm probably no help because I had my hair cut short all over so that part of the surgery would be out of the way. I visited two or three ladies who had the surgery and it looked like they only shaved the spot of the surgery and it was covered by hair that wasn't cut.
