Is It Werid?

I just purchased a wheelchair on the basis that if I had a seizure when I'm out my mum can just wheel me somewhere private instead of being subjected to strangers staring at her and me , plus I also got it for my periods of paralysis where I can't move and have balance issues and walk funny(ataxia attacks) so mainly it's for safety for me and ease of stress for my mum
I think I'm just concerned how other people will take it especially when I do have a small periods where I can walk okay and… read more

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member, are any of these other people you are referring to going to look out for you when you have a seizure? Are any of these other people going to help you with your periods of paralysis? You get my point! So, why be concerned of what others think of how you are going to take care of yourself? If you feel it's time to use your wheelchair because you are not feeling at your best, then use it. People are always going to have their own perceptions of those who have a disability. You are out to take care of yourself, and you will do what is necessary. Not impress anyone.

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member I used music to control my seizures as well, in my case Symphonic Metal genre does a very good job but it's a very hard genre to listen to if you're not into it. I actually love it and that's an advantage but right now I am learning how to write music to make it more bearable for someone who is not a metalhead. You can try to listen to Nightwish (especially their last 3 albums) because they're more softer but still strong enough to make a great hormonal balance in the brain. Basically as stress is a trigger for seizures you can use music to make a stress factor of an opposite amplitude to bring electrical activity to normal, but of course the main thing you could do is to explore different music genres and find one that makes you extremely euphoric and focused and learn how to conjure that sensation when you feel a seizure approaching. That's what I did and it works pretty good for me. Hopefully this will work for you.

Do what you think is best for the situation, what people think is their opinion, not yours. If they understand then that's cool, if not that's on them and not you, your call not theirs. My opinion

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member let me clarafy. i have 3-4 seizures types in order. aura sizures (inner simple partial/focal onset awareness), inner and outer simple partial, complex partial (focal onset impaired awareness), and grand mals. i used to have the grand mals every couple of hours (in the begining of my diegnosis)(when i was a kid). i has singing the opening song of a tv show and had seizure. i finished that song and notice my seizures stopped at the inbetween the simple to complex. mom notice this.
so to answer your question... i sing the comerials, opening tv song, ending tv song, and my faverite/annoying music songs. any song that trick your brain to focus on one song than thinking that i am having seizure. note... this is my treatment. resalts my vary.

I don't think it's weird. You only use it when it's necessary, right?
