Lacosamide and Brivaracterim are medications which I've been on for a bit over 3.5years. Like with all my previous medications I am aware that there are side effects
Perampanel was prescribed to me and the side effects which were identified by those who care about me were Anxiety and Irritability, while the Neurologists🧑‍🎓👨‍⚕️ who are trained to help people were suggesting to increase perampanel to help stop the seizures. I gradually removed the medication which was a giant risk and it… read more

Generally speaking with a psychiatrist can help since they are able to treat anxiety, depression and many others. I know that now that I am seeing a new neurologist, he is tapering down some of my medications. Even told me that I no longer needed one of them. There are many issues with medications so it is important to speak with someone about your concerns. Even a pharmacist may be able to help you. I will keep you in my prayers and I hope that you are able to find the answers you are seeking

You’re the 2nd person to post about over medicating in the past few days. This is all so wrong that we can’t rely on all physicians to have our best interests in mind, literally! This is one of the main reasons I chose not to restart all the eegs, mri, and change of medications because I don’t want to relive getting them understand when I feel something’s not working for me only to prescribed new medications on top of what I’m already taking. My life may not be perfect but at this point clarity means everything to a mind that’s already suffering.
Maybe written in the doctor’s notes the prescriptions don’t look like over medicating to them so bring all your bottles of prescribed medications for the doctors to physically see them and perhaps that will make them take notice of how many medications they have you taking.

epileptologists might be better for you to get the right medications and dosages
My general neuro for 50 ys retired and I went to a Epilepsy clinic in NYC
And they tried me on medications I never heard of

I felt like I was being treated as a Guinea pig years ago when my Neurologist at hospital was trying me on all different types of anticonvulsants including Keppra which caused severe anxiety and absence seizures, I still have occasional absence seizures and auras. I finished up getting a referral to see an epilepsy specialist privately. At the first consultation he asked me what I was taking currently and previously, when I mentioned Keppra he told me to stop taking it (reducing the dose slowly) and to resume taking Phenobarbital which is and older type anti epileptic I was taking years before but seems to work better for me.

Actually it’s not always the medication 💊 that makes you feel depressed 😭 or anxious 😥, there are even some types of epilepsy that they associated autism with and the behavioural patterns are similar to autism plus often another thing is that epileptic people change mood all of a sudden (it even happens to me for some reason).
But the side effects of the drugs are more potent and happen more often (I take Sodium Valproate, Carbamazepine and Clonazepam) and these cause me drowsiness, they double the effects of alcohol 🍺 (that’s why I don’t even drink) and another thing about alcohol and this drug is that it will actually trigger more seizures if you drink 🍺, because alcohol triggers seizures and the drug actually doubles the effects of alcohol, so making it twice as bad.
