Hearing Loss And Epilepsy

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
San Antonio, TX

I have been noticing my hearing loss has gotten worse over the last few years. Went for a hearing test and yes it was has gotten really bad in the last six years. The only thing that has happened to me in the last six years, is being diagnosed with epilepsy. Has anyone else had sever hearing loss after being diagnosed with epilepsy?

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member I don't this is related to seizures it is more related to the existing underlying condition that causes whatever the epilepsy diagnosis is. I was tested for hearing loss in my early days of having epilepsy but thanks fully for me not much came of it.

Not so much hearing loss, but a ringing in my ears. Could be that it was going to happen regardless of the medications.

Not that I am aware of, I do have wax buildup now and then when I check my ears and clean them out, but I don't think it has anything to do with my condition, but I would suggest asking your doc about that and see what may be the problem that is causing it, my opinion
