Diet
I am reading about the comments about the applied diets. (Ketogena and Modifications Adkins.) . They are a type of treatment. How many of you are prescribed by a nutritionist?
Did Keto for 2 years. Think I started with epileptic nutritionist and did rest on my own. Did nothing for my seizures but I lost 20 lbs! Hard diet to follow and not very healthy, so stopped.
Very healthy but no evidence it will help reduce or impact seizures.
A nutritionist has a lot of knowledge about any disease. And the implementation of the diet takes place only under the supervision of a nutritionist doctor, since it is a type of treatment.
I read about the Mediterranean diet. I know it has a pyramid structure. I will ask my nutritionist exactly what it is used for. If any of you have used it, please share the results.
I never had a nutritionist or was put on a diet. Back in the early 70's i was told that a AED i was taking will bring me weight gain and i might want to talk to a nutritionist. But when i did at that time, no one was willing to take on a patient with epilepsy. So, finding one was next to impossible or you had to read up on nutrition yourself.
I was not prescribed by a nutritionist but I changed the way I ate because I wanted to lower my high blood pressure and reduce my weight. I removed all the carbs and snacks I was eating. I now eat oatmeal, less eggs and breakfast sausage , more different fruits, more different vegetables , only water, orange juice and now ginger ale, and less processed foods. I lost 65 pounds, blood pressure decreased and started having less seizures.
