Can Temporal Lobe Epilepsy Spread To Frontal

Good question. In my case, I thought that’s is what was happening. However, my doctor said I have insular opercular epilepsy.

The insula is known to mimic other forms of epilepsy because it’s connected to so many parts of the brain. Including the temporal lobe and frontal lobe.

Basically what’s believed to be happening in my case is that it starts in the insula/ operculum but the electrical energy then goes to the frontal lobe and temporal lobe.

This theory would explain why my scalp eeg comes out clean. Since the insula is so deep in the brain. Would also explain why I still had tonic clonic episodes even after having a craniotomy.

Short answer is yes. If the seizure spreads through the brain, it can take hold in the frontal cortex and affect even more physical responses and automatic bodily functions. It’s all a matter of how intense it gets, and how vulnerable that area of your brain has become. I hope my interpretation helps explain it…

Not as I’m aware of because I’ve had temporal lobe epilepsy since the age of six years old because of meningitis at six months old which I’ve had now for 47 years

Yes. Generally, if a seizure starts it can then spread to different parts including the frontal lobe.
