Has Anyone With Epilepsy Gone Through A Divorce Alone? That Is, No Family Or Friend Support.
I'm currently in a toxic marriage. My husband and I have been married for 33 years but we are constantly fighting. He has been verbally and emotionally abusive and we've had some physical altercations. He's called me vulgar names and threatened to beat me. The police have been involved at least once, but we've stayed together out of fear of being alone and broke. We have no friends or family as support. I'm afraid and don't know what to do. You said you were. Don’t worry a about being single😉
Stay in a toxic relationship? Why?
I’m a single man but would rather be single than in a toxic relationship. Love yourself and everything will be just fine. I’m still close friends with my ex as we have a daughter and grandson whom which I live. The only one I believe I could date would be another epileptic as they are the only one that can really understand you.
Hi @A MyEpilepsyTeam Member , I’m sorry for all you’re going through. You could try reaching out to your local Epilepsy Foundation & letting them know what’s going on & see what they can suggest. They have a website with their contact information & info about their support groups & events they offer & information about Mental Health Services they offer & under that topic it says they offer free short term counseling for individuals, couples & they listed something else. It might be worth asking them about it & then if you want you could see if your husband would go with you. But let them first know how things are between y’all. Your local Epilepsy Foundation’s website is: www.epilepsychicago.org . Sending Thoughts, Hugs & Prayers. I hope things get better for you. Your friend in Texas, Becky
Yes. It’s hard feeling alone. I been here but I got thru it through therapy, exercise, and group support that too have been through divorce and no family support. I tried to commit suicide because of it feeling alone but I got help. I’m happy now in my new marriage of 10 years and 15 years together. I’m here if you need someone.
