I've been having blackouts since age 7, the neurologist gave me results from the EEG, says I don't have Epilepsy I asked what are the blackouts she says she has to do other tests. I am go to see another neurologist but they want to do an MRI. I don't know what's going on.

An EEG only shows what the brain is doing, not what it looks like. And some things can better be diagnosed through physical appearance, like size, shape and features. So they usually want both when diagnosing epilepsy. As John said, if your insurance will pay, get the second opinion and go for the MRI.

I have short blackouts when I have myoclonic seizures either at home or in public those are so embarrassing. In front of people I don't know well. Stressful situations. I lose muscle control during the blackouts and will toss food up in the air, anything in my hands.

Olivia, ask for a second opinion -- as long as your insurance will pay. This is the painful reality that has been going on for too long because the researchers have yet to prove that the EEG is not flawless (and it is not). Also, it is a fact that one can have other types of seizures besides epileptic seizures at the same time as having epileptic seizures, thus a single EEG test proves nothing.
