My Epilepsy Is Changing. I Am Talking To Someone And Find I Have To Stop Myself From Blacking Out. Sometimes I Do. Any Advice? Thanks

I have been thinking of getting intouch with my Epilepsy nurse but I don't want to be called in all the time. None of us know how Important independence is until they could loose it but I may have too.

My coworkers have always told me that if I feel like I’m going to have a seizure to go sit down. The problem is that I never do know when I’m about to have a seizure. They always roll an office chair out, sit me down and roll me to a private room.
P.S. I never have driven a car or mowed the lawn

I know this may sound like a crazy question, but does it only happen when you are talking to people? If so, could that be stressing you out?

I found that mine have changed as I am getting older. Menopause also had an effect. I had to have my medication dosage increased. Spring and fall, I will see a spike in the number of seizures when we are transitioning from winter or into winter...the huge difference in the daytime and night temperatures, and rains. I usually just ride it out, stay at home more. If it goes on for more than 2 weeks, or there is a change in the severity, I call my neurologist.
But any new changes, like blackouts, falls, tonic clinic seizures (I usually don't have them, they are rare for me), I call even if it is to the on-call doctor, or get to the hospital.
Definitely keep track of what is happening, how often, and for how long, were you aware, did you blackout, have nausea afterward, did you fall, is it seasonal, are you sick at the time, any new meds or supplements you recently started, are you eating regularly/snacks in between meals, drinking enough fluids, too much caffeine, getting enough sleep, any stress. And let your neurologist know. It could mean it is time for a medication change, dosage increase, or adding another medication to what you are currently on.
Any time you are feeling like you are going to black out, STOP AND SIT DOWN OR LAY DOWN. It is NEVER a good idea to try and just push through it, it is NOT safe! If you black out while driving or running a lawn mower, or something as simple as using a knife in the kitchen, just think about what could happen if you just keep on going. I have been in the store when the feeling of blacking out as hit. I stopped and sat down right in the aisle at Lowe's, my back against the shelves, and put my head between my knees, and breathed slow and deep. I was with a friend, and he sat down with me. The associate brought me a cold, wet paper towel to put on back of my neck, that I asked for. There were 3 employees who all came to block that aisle and get whatever they could for me, even a 911 call if I wanted/needed.
And if you are working, your employer will be understanding if you STOP and SIT vs if you push through it and have a seizure that involves potential injury to yourself and/or others.
This is also something that could impact your ability to drive if you currently are able to, so talk to your neurologist as soon as possible.

I always say “you’re okay” and kept repeating it my husband says.
Do you have any auras before you have an absence seizure, ( I call them brain farts 💨)?
