Transition From Lamotrigine To Trileptal

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question šŸ’
Highland, CA

My neurologist is prescribing this change to improve for my complex partial seizure condition. Has anyone else been prescribed this treatment plan, and if so, how did affect you? any serious side effects?

I have, and medications affect different people in different ways. I take Trileptal and it has worked fine for me. Also, medications may not work well for some people as it helps for others. Side effects may be tolerable to some and difficult for others. In other words, it will be a trial-and-error experience to see if it will work for you. It takes about 4 to 6 weeks for your system to get used to a new drug. I suggest that you keep a diary when you start taking your new meds. Write down how you are feeling before taking your meds and how you are feeling after. This will help you and your neurologist work with your treatment. Hope it works for you.
