RNS Problem

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
New Bedford, MA

I’m having problems after getting my RNS. It’s been hurting a lot and I’ve had pus discharge. I was told today that I have to get admitted and will need the surgical area near the device cleaned out. It may also have to be removed.

Anyone else had problems like me after surgery ?

I’m sorry you’re having all these problems. I never have had any problems. When my battery died in my RNS they did remove my RNS-300 and replace it with an RNS-320.

Getting the RNS replaced isn’t near as big of a surgery than when you first got it. To get to the RNS replaced they just have to cut some skin. So when they replaced my RNS it was just an outpatient procedure. I went home the same day.
