Pemberton, OH

I have been diagnosed with left tempro lobe epilepsy which was caused from an accident i worked around powerlines and was indirectly struck by 69,000 volts of electricity. and also have hemiplegic migraines which cause stroke like symptoms but for the past few weeks I have been having grand mal seizures its got me scared I can't work at the moment because of it I work at Honda Transmission plant and until there under control I can't go back my wife said I should look into permanent disability

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member, you can talk to your neurologist about applying for disability.

Look into it and see if there is something you can do other than that or what medicine can help that is not working at the time also you may need an expert in this field it could be that you need to get out of that field altogether and find something else, then again you may end up on disability sorry and wish you well

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member My heart and prayers go out to you for recovery. The very first thing I would suggest is asking your neurologist if she or he could kindly assist with getting you into a better position. I totally agree damage did take place and it will take time to recover from what has been done.

More importantly, I would ask questions to your neurologist about recovery and the steps they suggest that can help you with recovery. A second suggestion is asking your bride (girlfriend) to be with you when speaking to the neurologist just so they are there as your support system and can help when you both are at home together.

Epilepsy isn't an easy thing to work with, I've had it since the age of 1 and I'm 56 now. I am thankful to have found the support from a wonderful loving husband and the helpful group I have found here. I wish you well and do hope you get the feeling better soon.

If you still want to work , you may want to look into jobs that aren’t so dangerous to you from the Epilepsy.

Then there is applying for SSI /SSDI , which ever one you’re applicable for . You might have to reapply for it maybe look into a Disability Lawyer, to help you.

I'm sorry to hear about your accident but the best thing I can give for advice is don't push yourself to hard. Even if you could be able to work at the place you did is Dangerous not only for you but there's also the other people you are responsible for
