The way I always heard it is epilepsy can cause sleep apnea but sleep apnea is not a cause of seizures.

On my bad nights, I have a seizure or 2 in my sleep. Most of the time , I seizure during the daytime.

I have sleep-wake disorder lack of sleep has been proved to be a cause of seizures both in epilepsy and non epilepsy patients

I was diagnosed with sleep apnea in 2006. So I never had a seizure before. But since 2015 I've been dealing with seizure even while wearing my CPAP. So Dr quickly ruled that out. I 1st started what seemed like sleep walking the so my Dr @ the time was a sleep specialist, so then she connected me with one of her friend who's a neurologist. But in 2017 I guess from walking around the house I fell a fracture my right orbit floor bone; and had surgery. But when he put me on Vimpat the walking around the house seems to slow down. I try and wear my CPAP nightly unless I fall asleep from the medication 1st. I surly can tell the difference when I sleep with or not better sleep quality for me.

I have not been diagnosed with sleep apnea yet but I do plan on getting tested soon. I have issues falling/staying asleep every night and lack of sleep is my siezure trigger.
