What Makes It Different Than A Grand Mal, Or Are They The Same?

I have Partial Awareness Seizures. They were called Absence and Partial Complex. As a kid of 7 they called them Petit-Mal.

ok... let me explain. partials are only part of the brain (left or right). thay are simple partial and complex partials. aura is a simple partial. generlized seizures are both sides of the brain (both left and right). absent seizures (formaly known as petit mal) are generlized seizures. the absent seizures are aura seizures... but auras are 1 side and absent is both sides. grand mals are now known as tonic-clonic seizures.
i think you are mixed up the typeing... ether that or the dr is mixed up.

When I had brain surgery they found out that I have epilepsy both sides of my brain, Grand mal seizure means that you might fall if standing up, or if you're sitting down you can shake and loss of conscious for up to 2 minutes, Take Care.

OH MY...🙄
Granny Fits???? Apparently many people continue to be clueless about epilepsy. The word "fits" is particularly offensive!
Go to RESOURCES at the upper left of this page. Click on it and you'll find a very good article entitled "Types of Seizures". There are other great articles there too.
I think you'll learn the answer to your question there.

I had not heard of Granny Fits until I joined this group. In 1959, they called it Patit-Mal. The Teacher thought I was deliberately not paying attention in class. Others said people may have thought they were daydreaming.

There was a very large number of Doctors who evaluated, tested, and advised me about any potential Surgery. It was possible because they came from my Right Temporal Lobe. Years later I was tested again because technology had changed, However, the Left Occipital Lobe has some activity also. The Left is my dominant side, and nobody wants to mess with Vision. I am about to have a Peripheral Vision Test. A portion of the peripheral vision is missing on the left side due to the Surgery.
