I Have Been On Every Medication Except Narcotics And I'm Not Sure How To Go About Asking For Them Without Looking Like I Just Want Pills

Next time you see the Neurologist / Epileptologist , talk to them about possibly changing your medication if you don’t think it ‘s working or you’re experiencing bad side effects of the medication(s) .

I was placed on #32 medications as of October 2023. I am a drug resistant patient. I do not take to them very well and with the few medications I am currently taking the majority are brand name and at low dosage never to be increased for good reason.

Because of my case situation, I had the VNS put in place in 2008 and the DBS put in place in 2011. The best plan of action when working through this type of issue is to keep open communication with your specialist. Since I am my own advocate, I can only suggest being honest and speaking from your heart during the meeting so your specialist can understand what you are experiencing and what your concerns are. In my experience, speaking honestly is the best way to communicate.
