What Do You Consider Epilepsy?

I found a site called Epilepsy Disease and just that name I find offending. Epilepsy is a medical condition, its not some disease you can catch. What are your thoughts on this

One thing that it doesn’t have, like many diseases, is a cure

It does frustrate me too. The medical field calling Epilepsy a disease. I see it a lot myself . I don’t consider Epilepsy a Disease. I consider it a Disorder , Conditions , and then there are other conditions related to Epilepsy that are Syndrome.

I to this day, don’t understand why they call Epilepsy a disease

DFairy Epilepsy is not a disease its a condition like diabetes. Changes occur as body ages but not deadly. Meds are the key to help avoid seizures any changes Dr can adjust meds as well.

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member a lot of people with epilepsy on some days have normal eegs. Me personally they say I have seizure activity on all my eegs which started back in my 40s. Some are worse than others. Lately it has been less but still there. I use to have a normal eeg here and there from my 30s till it changed in my mid 40s but that's also when my seizures changed and I was having 5-6 a day of grand mals. That's when my entire life changed. I'm 66 now and hope this change again of few seizures stays that way for the rest of my life. It has changed numerous times over my life.

Until someone has a seizure and wake up dazed and embarrassed (and I hope they don't ) they will never ever know how hard it is to live with Epilepsy.
