@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member , There can be a list of triggers but that doesn’t mean each of those triggers can effect everyone. For example, about my only main trigger is getting way to tired & it catching up with me. Just because I’m tired once in a while doesn’t mean I might have a seizure. In February 2024, I was at home & got really really tired that my eyes were half closed & then I was talking to my Mom & I began talking in an odd tone of voice, I began walking in small circles & other such symptoms. I don’t have any problems with drinking caffeine, or flashing lights. Getting to hot might bother me but I don’t know that it would cause me to have a seizure. But I’m sure others have numerous triggers. But just because it’s on the list of possibly causing a seizure doesn’t mean it necessarily will. Everyone is different. Your friend in Texas, Becky

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member , I’m 45 & have had seizures since the 2nd grade. I don’t know how a person, including myself discovers what might be their triggers. But of course I can have seizures when I’m not extremely tired as well. Most but not all of my seizures occur in my sleep. If a person’s seizures are pretty frequent then they might wait till the seizures calm down till they go swimming or anything else where they could possibly have a seizure & get hurt. Caffeine doesn't trigger me, but lack of sleep and mega stress seem to be my triggers. Also forgetting a dose of medication doesn't help either. I try to get a good night's sleep going from nights off to working at night. Going from Saturday to Sunday really screws me up, so I take a nap when I get home from church and get up around 4pm to get ready for work at 6pm.

Stress and not enough rest can be my main cause now.
