I was wondering if when you see your doc do you think your doc sees you as just a patient ? and I know we have our own say own relationships or bond with, or do you think there is a sense of something extra with what they are doing for you, going out of their way say for you, not just a patient kinda thing, if you get my drift here, as for my doc I think she does in her own way,

Except for two neurologists and a PA, I have always had exceptional doctors and PAs. I feel very looked after. I will not see a medical person who does not have a sense of humor. Humor is the only way I get through this; the medical staff must understand that. I am not trying to make light of my epilepsy, but I have to laugh at it. Epilepsy will not define me.

I’ve been through a few different neurologist and epileptic doctors. It depends on how arrogant they can be. You have to be upfront with them. Don’t be afraid to say your opinions if they are different. Doctors are not always right and they should be open minded also.

I believe my doc is there to be honestly helping. I say this because he was the one who informed me of a seizure alert service dog, that was extremely helpful, seems to be pretty quick to getting answers of important questions answered, and actions such as getting my insurance called to get a referals called in so insurance will pay for it.

It's hard to call. Most recently, my GP who I feel comfortable talking to and relying on, referred me to a cardiologist I never liked and showed me a lack of reliance. All I could see was a man in it for the 💰, not the patient.

On the brighter side, after I made a mistake and looked for a neurologist close to home, I found one who just knew how to prescribe meds and see you every six months. My co-worker then gave me an article from the St. Louis newspaper that gave me the name of an epileptologist who I will never forget. We agreed, disagreed and finally set up my temporal lobectomy which led to a second chance at life. This man I idolize and will never forget.
