Hi Michelle! My epilepsy is considered post-traumatic or acquired. I had a severe concussion due to a bicycle accident when I was 11. I ran a yield sign and collided with a pickup truck. I had a difficult recovery. I didn't have my first big seizure (not related to the initial injury) until I was 16. Apparently, the seizures are being triggered by some scar tissue that developed--according to Cleveland Clinic. My injury was in 1988. I was officially diagnosed 30 years ago. So I guess you could say I am a veteran of this condition. It is nice to be able to communicate with others who understand what this life can be like. This network of people is very special and I was so glad to discover it. Take care!

I suffered a head injury in 2005 I was 43, it went on treated for a couple of months. Till I went to the insurance doctor who after I told him a few things going on he released me for work. I had my first seizure in the office with a medical release in my hand

Was diagnosed with epilepsy at Kaiser Permanente in Sacramento when I was 16 years old back in 1973.
