When I went into the EMU here in Omaha, they took very good care of me. Very first thing that was done, the EEG was setup then I was put into the hospital bed since I had the wires on my head. After the EEG tech left the nurse came by to give me information how we would be going through everything safely for the next five days during my stay since I would be wearing the EEG and on video.

About a week prior to all this my neurologist and I had a chat about the EMU. He gave me three pages of information on the testing procedure which included what to wear, what best to bring with me, how to get ready for the test, etc. I actually brought my iPhone with a 10-foot cord so it could stay plugged in. I just used a backpack to bring everything for my clothes. Oh, one of the things the neurology department said was to contact EMU unit if I had any questions before arrival as they can help. I would find out if you can do the same.

This advice covers everything I would say. I'll add that it's different for everyone. For me it wasn't bad just long. Bring things to occupy yourself ๐Ÿ’œ

Just prepare yourself for a long hospital stay and being confined to your bed.

Expect a variety of ways to induce seizures. For me, it was riding a stationary bike, hyperventilating, getting just two hours a day to sleep.

Leave all pull-over tops at home. I made that mistake.๐Ÿ˜œ.

Don't give up on yourself if you don't have seizures right away. It took me until midnight of the day they were sending me home to have three (two of the worst seizures I ever had).

Bring sudoku puzzles, other books to pass time.

Good luck!

It's not bad. As long as you have word puzzles, able to listen to your favorite music and a book you just can't put down. You will be in good hands. Here are some links to read, https://itsyourepilepsy.com/what-to-expect-duri...

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member , Take some things to keep you occupied like stuff to color, word searches, crosswords, or books, etc. Theyโ€™ll eventually probably take you off all your medicine & might even try to keep you awake so they can try & trigger a seizure. I had an in hospital video EEG in November 2019 & since my seizures arenโ€™t as frequent or severe as some peoples, I didnโ€™t have any seizures, but the Neurologist said that while I slept the EEG showed mostly Focalized seizure activity but some Generalized seizure activity. Most but not all of my seizures occur in my sleep. Good luck & I hope the doctor can get some helpful information. ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿค— Your friend in Texas, Becky
