Any Suggestions Please For Hayfever Tablets That Won’t Cause A Seizure?
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member Zytec isn't as bad as what I was taking. I did take a behind the counter antihistamine called polaramine. A very strong antihistamine. I took it for 5 years until the pharmacists found out and quickly made me stop taking it. This stuff does all that but ten times worse.
Generally, the advice with antihistamines is you can take them with most meds but you need to be careful with it.
When I asked about this awhile ago everyone suggested Zyrtec so I use that now. One thing I would suggest though is only take it when you really need to.
Zyrtec exacerbated my problem with fatigue and confusion. Then I read it is not good to take antihistamines with Epilepsy. I now use steroid inhaler and Mullein Tea.
Thank you so much, your information is really helpful. I’ll look into this.
Hi Debbie! I have had issues with seasonal allergies/ hay fever all of my life. I have found that Claritin is best for me. The brand name is expensive. There is a generic available that is effective as well. I do not use the XR, extended release version. I have used Zyrtec before as well. It did exacerbate my dry eye problems. Otherwise, it was effective. I hope you can find something that works for you!
