Is it safe? Do you have to get off of medication to have the baby?
Inform me please!😁

My first I was on Tegretol. Had one sz at 5 mo. Pregnancy. Woke up in ER told them to do Doppler to check baby’s heart beat! It was normal! I was pooped! He was a great baby ! He now is a father of a girl!

My daughter I was on 2 meds. . We moved on 6 month . Busy as a bee, no sz’s. Had her naturally in Washington DC. Had a mid-wife! She just had beautiful baby girl! No problems with either of my children!

I wish you the best ❣️

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member , I’m 45 more than 20 years ago when my Pediatric Neurologist started me on Depakote he told me to let him know if I wanted to get pregnant because Depakote can cause birth defects he said & that way he could put me on something else. I’ve never had any children & so I’m still on my Depakote. There are many others on here who have had children but I strongly suggest you speak with your Neurologist if you want to get pregnant & they’ll be able to tell you if the medication you’re on would be safe or not during a pregnancy & if not then they will likely change your medicine. New meds for epilepsy are some of safest of all for pregnancy. Ask Dr to confirm, ease mind best bout yours Once not many meds available so many birth defects from. Seizures will not affect baby either if even have any. You have nothing to worry bout plan on a happy healthy bundle of joy for life.
