After Years Of Seizures, And Now Under Control Per State Laws. Do You Think It Would Stress You To Start Driving Again?
Stress is one of the main seizure triggers.
If you’re qualified for it, you could do it but I would start out with small trips to the store first. Then you might know more about how it would affect you. But I wouldn’t go out and get on any major freeways
NO! When my seizures came under control, it was the first time I had gotten my license in my life.
Congratulations on your ability to drive again. I live in Alpharetta and really don't have much distance to drive anywhere and not quite yet there on the seizure-free train. I'll keep your and everyone else's comments in my remember to-do list
( remember, yeah right !). Thanks to all who replied. Have a pleasant evening.
Under Canadian Law I am not allowed to ever drive again since 2014, after my first seizure, because I still take only Absence (petit mal) seizures now. (around 20 a year) Before my brain surgery in 2017, I took perpetual Tonic-clonic (Grand mal) seizures, where they once thought I took a Tonic-clonic and it was a real TIA-stroke in 2015. The combo of all the things that have happened to me it makes then to refuse me from ever driving again. This I am OK with, because I never feel that I am going into a seizure. EVER!!
I drive all the time. I took my truck to Kentucky and back to Michigan one time. In less than 3 years, I have put over 30,000 miles on my truck. I promised my Neurologist if I ever had a seizure, I would put my license up and stop driving. When I had gotten my license, I had never driven in my life. I got all my paperwork ready from my doctor but I didn't need any of it because I had never driven before and never got my license taken away for having seizures.
