Has Anybody Else Had EMT Get Upset With You For Being Called To Your Seizures?
When I started working my coworkers would call the fire department every time I had a seizure. After 3 or 4 times the fire department told me that if they kept getting called I would have to pay them money for gas. Luckily work got used to my seizures.
I have grand Mal’s and don’t wake up after convulsing is over. EMS is supposed to be called if the person DOES NOT wake up. It may be a while before I wake and then extremely confused, in and out of consciousness. Just let them get mad. By the time my daughter is finished with them they wont do it but once.
After reading all these responses it is quite clear that medical communities, especially in smaller areas, need education. I suppose because they aren’t exposed as much with different aspects and kinds of seizures they are just ignorant. Or should I say uninformed. As are some physicians, they are not perfect. However, they have absolutely no excuse for being unkind. It never hurts to kindly notify in writing if possible that the encounter you had was negative and damaging. Even physicians and hospitals have CEO’s.
I would not know. I only know the paramedics are there when I am coming out of one, and they start asking about, the year, who am I, stuff like that.
There was only one time where EMT was called for me and that was the first time I had a seizure. They were nice.
I'm in the USA so every time an absence were to take place while I'm on the job 911 is contacted just for my safety so the first aid crew can show up then check me out, determine from there if it's needed to take me to nearby ER.
This is something that jobs do here in the USA to protect the employees. I've worked a few places that have done this and I can say from my personal opinion I have never had anyone I work with give me rude remarks on the fact I have an emergency crew paying attention to me. They are more concerned about me to ensure I am okay.
As a matter of fact, the following day after something had taken place I had many of my co-workers that I worked with smile at me when I walked in the door the following morning. The managers I worked with that morning came up to me that morning direct and asked me if I was okay and if I needed anything at all. Should I need anything to let them be aware of it. I was quite happy to know there was employees and management that cared in a place of work.
I Was Told I Begin To Stare And My Face Goes Blank, If I Am About To Have One. For Some Reason, The Need To Urinate (possibly Due To Stress)
Stress Is The Trigger For.y Seizures And I Completely Cut Out ALL People That Cause Me Stress And Anxiety. Does Anyone Else Relate?
Has Anyone Had A Seizure Last Two Days?
