I think that I myself noticed that about since being diagnosed with and over the years of having my condition of epilepsy and my seizures, I have noticed them and know they happen time to time but it's dif for them now when they do, I think, I used to have say they were happening just at a say uncontrolled way, it was kinda uneasy pattern when they did, but after tests and meds and condition, and treatment etc, like I said my condition and seizures I have of my epilepsy is more stable than… read more
At mid 2011 was having 4 to 5 seizures a day using just the Vagus Nerve Stimulator and it's settings. After the Deep Brain Stimulator device was implanted with brief settings the seizures dropped extreme, I mean EXTREME! They went from four seizures a day to 1 a day. Then when we found the right settings more of an extreme took place as the seizure change and numbers came in. The seizure style dropped to 4 a month of absence. That is major! We did a few changes of medication being I am medication resistant then the number of seizures dropped once again so now I am 1 or 2 a month sometimes none.
I went through a period of 5 or six seizures a day. Now it is 1 to 2 a week so that’s an improvement.
Mine use to be more severe and often. Have seen it's different it's been better or worse for some. Wishing for those that's had it worse or still do, will improve in time.
My seizures diagnosed at 5 with absence though I was supposed to outgrow it. At 25 I started grande mals took a few med changes but got it under control and back to a regular life with my family and my job. At 45 I started having multiple seizures a day and it grew to 5-6 a day. Ot took months to get me semi controlled. I got a VNS better and than another Change in meds still better. But was retired from my job and put on ssdi. At 65 I had 1 seizure when I had shingles that summer and a light one in my sleep according to my hubby in the fall. Nothing since than. What I noticed is every 20 years I had a change good or bad in my seizures.
Have not had a seizure in over 45 days but have been religious about taking the meds. The seizures may be different but I have not really noticed. Just hoping the seizures stay away as they recently have. I do think that seizures destroy some brain tissue and they are not good for overall cognition.
