When asking questions, it can help to use "I statements" to take responsibility for your feelings and needs. For example, "I'm curious to understand more about X. Could you help me learn more?" But staying calm and restating your question can help diffuse tension. The goal is open communication, even if it takes patience.

When i have to ask a question like this i always preface it by saying " I have a really, really strange question. It isn't meant to pick on you or anything else. I'm just curious. There's a personal reason and I can't say what it is. Okay. Here's the question.............? Do not use the words I, you, us or we.

Dave that's a good question. Myself I sometimes struggle to find the right words and I'm often taken the wrong way, even when talking face to face. I read some place peoples brains can process what they read in different ways. I just do the best I can, if anyone questions what I say or write I try to explain what I meant to convey.

I try to be respectful and let everyone know that this may sound like a crazy or offensive question and it is not intended for anyone person in particular but I need an answer for understanding a particular situation.
