I was at the dentist this morning and they want me to my wisdom teeth removed. Is it ok for someone with epilepsy to do that?

Ouch, I know how that goes! I had it done back in my 20s. The thing was I had a mitral valve prolapse/ Leaky heart valve so took antibiotics. No harn no foul. I'm at 63 and have been married for almost 28 years now. I hope you feel better. Take care ericthom3

You're welcome, but I would talk to your doctor if you're using anesthesia instead of novacaine. At least let the dental know.

As for the number of wisdom teeth being pulled, I would have all 4 done at the same time. When I had mine taken out I was given the choice of extracting 2 or 4. The doctor advised me 2 would need to come out and the other 2 would eventually have to be removed. Ask your dentist about the chances of having to remove the other 2. If it was like me, I'd rather have all 4 extracted.

My seizures have been under control for 2 years. What worried my parents about this was more related to cancer, which was very rare. 1/250000 children get it. Been off chemo since 2001. Last time I haven't had a seizure was in 2022- had 26 small seizures or 'hiccups' as my neuro called it the night I wound up in the ER.

I had just had my top wisdom teeth taken out this morning. Didn't have any problems. I had a form of all my medical problems to fill out when I got there, so I felt ok. Plus, I had asked my neurologist and my former oncologist this.
