Sorry For The Delay But When I Went To App My Doc Said He Saw Spikes On My EEG. My Others Before Were All Normal.

This threw me off guard. What does this mean? He showed me MRI results from june and said all that white should not be there as he zoomed in and out. I know this is scar tissue from first surgery to remove an AVM. The unsuccessful type of surgery i had to remove the scar tissue 20yrs ago is now no longer done. He said we have new technologies. This is second time he mentioned this. We already booked an app in a few months and doc said if I have ANY seizures before then to call him. I was… read more

It's understandable to feel thrown off guard and speechless when getting unexpected test results. Spikes on an EEG can indicate seizure activity or an increased risk of seizures. It's understandable to feel thrown off guard and speechless when getting unexpected test results. Spikes on an EEG can indicate seizure activity or an increased risk of seizures. The white matter seen on your MRI likely refers to scar tissue from your previous surgery. It's good your doctor wants to monitor things closely and that you're preparing questions. Recording appointments can help capture key details. The key is open, ongoing communication with your care team.

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member, you’re right . I wasn’t super clear about the spike . A low steady continuous rhythms in the spikes is normal. . It’s the Large high and sharp spikes that are the seizures.

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member i could tell this doc is good 20 or more when I first him. He really cares even when I'm having probs with meds. These type of ppl are hard to find. I am very thankful. I am sometimes intimidated by his knowledge. My sis said to write down questions before next app. It's funny 20yrs ago is was invincible 💪 but now in late forties I'm concerned. I was thinking maybe if I ask him if I could record our appointments 🤔. Idk it jst seems like I'd be able to go through what he said easily. I'm sure if I asked he'll be patient with my questions and thorough with his answers. I love my neurologist! I hope your day is well. Thanks Jakesen! 💜

I have seen different abnormalities when I was in school learning one of my friends had slowing on the left side but no symptoms!

A lot of sz patients will have normal EEG’s.

One was interesting seeing rhythmic theta in his right temporal area. I pointed it out to the doctor before he started to read it and he said abnormal and MRI saw a subtle abn. On it! It’s like being a detective!

There a lot of interesting abnormalities you learn. About different ailments. I love doing EEG’s it’s an art to me
