This has always been debated and studied over the years. As of now there's no direct evidence that it does. Tonic clonic seizures can make the brian worse over time but this is different to Dementia. I hope this answers your question.

It's understandable to feel concerned about memory loss and dementia. Epilepsy itself does not directly cause dementia, but some of the underlying causes and risk factors may overlap. For example, head injuries, strokes, and other neurological conditions can increase dementia risk as well as trigger epilepsy. Treating epilepsy properly through medication can help preserve memory and reduce dementia risk. Work closely with your doctor to find the most effective medications with minimal side effects. There are also lifestyle changes and memory training strategies that could help. While dementia risk may increase slightly with age regardless of epilepsy, taking care of overall physical and mental health can go a long way. I agree with you and your post and the other people's posts here, I have a mem prob also, but I consider the cause of it, i use to have it get to me, but not as much anymore, I have accepted the condition I have and what goes with it, it's not my fault or yours, but get the best info and leads to the question here get advice from the medical field and your doc and go from there, but hang in there and try and stay pos, my opinion, good luck with that
