Another? Did Your Parents Seem To Treat You Differently Because Of The Condition You Have When Diagnosed With Or Not?

My thoughts about this is no,they knew about my condition I had, but I was treated equally like the rest of the family and had to do my school and paper route I had and follow the guidelines of the family we had, that includes discipline measures as well, if I got into trouble and did, I wasn't exempt from getting special treatment and such etc, you got what you are going to get as they deemed necessary for your behavior, I think that even the school may have known about my condition I had also… read more

My parents raised me as though nothing was wrong. My epilepsy was never discussed. They were always concerned when they found out I had a seizure, but that was the only time. My husband is more concerned than my parents are.

I lucked out if you want to call it that, as my mom was head nurse of Rehab at Jewish Hospital (BJC), a tough woman. She wasn't an enabler for anyone but pushed all to do their best. You'd be surprised how much a difference that push makes. So although I gripe about the little things she & dad treated us all the same.

I could not have had better parents. They treated the 4 boys as equal partners in the household and everyone had to pull their weight in chores keeping the house clean and your room and helping mommer with laundry. If you wanted clean clothes wash them, It was simple. As for epilepsy, I got away with with a lot stuff because I played games on my parents. I was an immature little punk. and I knew it was wrong. I came out okay I am happily married and going on 28 years. ericthom3

I had to add this to my answer. "I made a mistake and had to fix it. I started to take seizures in 2014 and it was in 2017 when they did brain surgery. That is just one problem with seizures and messing with your mind"

No they didn't. I was told to make sure I took my medicine daily but other than that just reminded that I was not any different because of my epilepsy and shouldn't let others treat me as I am. Only I can determine who I am. Can't thank them enough for this
