Started Having A New Seizure Type. Scared And Confused.
As I go to sleep my Right side goes into spasm for a second or two, then relaxes, then after a few seconds again a spasm, head turns Right, each time. Not every night, and intensity varies. Feels like a UTI urgency. Anyone experience this?
It sounds like the issue I was having when I was on my old med. I thought it was seizure related but it turned out to be med related. I still get it but no where near as bad and it's not as common as it was. Definitely tell the Neurologist though because it could be lots of things.
Thanks, everyone. My husband filmed 3. They were longer in duration and further apart than I thought. Thank heaven they are not every night. Everyone have a peaceful calm night! Many thanks!
Hope you are doing better. I get some movement in my arm when I go to sleep. I always tell my doctor. In the past it’s from a med change or incoming sz.
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member This is kind of how it played out for me as well. Mind you I didn't think much of it for a long time. The first time I reported it it was never really that bad so I delt with it then the last few years It suddenly got really bad. As it turned out as my dosage was going up I was having all these underlying issues and the jerks were only going to get worse.
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member Well this how it played out in my case I was having the twitches mainly at nighttime when I go to bed. I started to find that if I lay down and was about to wind down to go sleep this is the time I was most likely to have it happen.
I ended up having two lots of 4-day video eeg tests. One picked up seizures and picked up the movements on video but there was no evidence that said that these movements were seizure related. In the end they ended up being caused by the really high dosage of Tegretol along with other issues.
I still get some twitching now which is now a med related side effect related to Keppra but it's nowhere near as bad as what it was.
