Different Seizures

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Southampton, UK

I had a seizure this morning, I was brushing my teeth and I started to feel weird and I felt my left arm and leg starting to stiffen and twitch. When I came round I was slumped over the bath face down on the bottom of the bath. I always sit on my toilet with lid down to brush my teeth. What sort of seizure would I have had? Everytime I have a seizure I'm just still so confused as to what's happened. I feel like crying as I feel so stupid that I still don't fully understand it.

Please don’t feel stupid…u r not stupid but I feel stupid at times after I can’t remember from sometimes my seizures cause this as a few weeks ago I was upstairs taking off makeup, brushing teeth before I went to sleep and it was so hot upstairs I had a seizure just come over me-no aura or anything and I just stood there looking in the mirror and didn’t know wtf happened until I came out of it and it kinda scared me so I just left from doing my nighttime routine and went downstairs for the night.

Also Lidia6 it is possible to have more than one type of seizures do to Epilepsy. It is also possible for a different type of seizure to develop along with the one originally diagnosed with.To find the answer for that, if you are having more than one type of seizures ask your Neurologist. I would think they would be able to give you an answer to that, having an EEG or MRI if not both. Also I can see you seem to be intelligent to me. I say that because you attempt to get help from others for a question unknown by many. I don't care if you have a doctorate in neurology or any other accomplishment in life you are going to need help. You were smart enough to do that and get higher possibility of success!👸

It really did . But today my seizures aren’t that strong . And with my DBS implant it has help reduce my seizures.

Perhaps the twitching you experienced is your body warning that you should always sit on the floor when you feel those symptoms.
I hope you'll have a meaningful and comforting discussion with your epilepsy nurse.

I tell people that I’m around that if I check out I’m going to check back in. I don’t want them stressing over my seizures. Of course at times I need help but the same principle applies. I’ve worked super hard at just accepting what I can’t change. I am me with epilepsy and if they can’t deal with it I totally get it.
