As For Testing And Treatment Goes, What Do You Do If You Haven't Had A Eeg In A While Like A Long Time, But Doc Hasn't Asked You Need Too?
I'm wondering about this ❓ I am asking about, since I have had a couple of those since being diagnosed with my condition of epilepsy I have, but I can't remember when the last one I had done, I'd say by guestimating it's been around 15 years or longer than that, but my doc hasn't brought that up or suggested it, If it was of importance I think she would of, but my condition is more stable than before and I am ok with that and so is my doc, what do you think about this ❓
My epilepsy is well controlled and rarely need to make changes. Recently had an EEG but it had been more than 10 years since the previous one. Most docs don't like to rock the boat or look for patterns if you are stable. My recent EEG was a 24 hour one done at home and it was a lot better than the ones in the past.
I know about 1 yr, since I had one. That one was a home EEG because I had a seizure that had different actions then usual. The reason it was a home EEG was because they didn't want to enforce the seizure. They wanted it registered naturally to make sure nothing different occurred.
There are only 2 reasons in my experiences of having an EEG .
1. The Dr. wants to know of any changes in my brain activity , to put the his/her clinical notes.
2 the Dr. wants to try an alternative treatment and needs to check if I was the right candidate for it .
unless absolutely necessary I don't want anymore EEG's. the one's I had confirmed I had Epilepsy but nothing else
Just had an EEG after about 4 years. Results didn’t show anything. Not sure why it was even done other than my neurologist likes to keep up to date. My seizures have been reduced from keppra. The neurologist should tell you results. I have a patient portal where results are posted.
