Vitamin D has been quite an adventure. Most recently after six surgeries, I realized I wasn't getting out walking and riding my bike as much and the doc told me I was low on vitamin D. The time before that had a happy ending. My epileptologist said I was low but I had a pretty good option. I had to stop taking Dilantin and switch to another drug or stop taking drugs altogether. I went with no meds. That was 18-19 years ago, five years after my surgery.

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member , I’ve been taking Depakote for over 25 years & around 2014 when I began seeing a different Neurologist he told me that long term use of Depakote can possibly cause Osteoporosis & so he did a bone density & found that I had Osteopenia in my left hip & recommended that I take Vitamin D & my current Neurologist still has me taking the Vitamin D pill. I take the Vitamin D pill along with a Multivitamin & a Calcium pill. Take care. Your friend in Texas, Becky

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member I'm pretty sure you only need sun light the heat doesn't really come into it. It's only really if it's a really overcast cloudy day where it may be affected you would still get it but not as good. The other thing is regard less of how you get it your body needs to get a natural light source just to activate any vitamin d you already have.
